Light kit, long kit and bulky kit: three kinds of sports row
A sports sheet mixes items that behave nothing alike in a parcel. Running tops, shorts, socks and gloves are light and fold flat. Helmets, bags and trainers boxes are light but bulky. Golf clubs, tent poles and rolled mats are long. LitBuy bills whichever is higher, scale weight or box volume, so bulk costs money even when the scale shows little, and every line has a maximum box, so length decides whether a row can ship at all. Which kind a row is matters more than the sport.
We have no measured weights for any item. The table uses round assumed weights and the box volume at LitBuy's usual divisor of 8,000, to show where the volumetric figure overtakes the scale. The LitBuy spreadsheet overview covers how rows work; here the focus is the box.
| Row | Assumed weight | Assumed box (cm) | Volumetric at 8,000 | What decides the price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Running tee | 0.15 kg | 25 × 20 × 3 | 0.19 kg | Weight |
| Padded jacket for training | 0.5 kg | 35 × 28 × 10 | 1.23 kg | Volume |
| Pair of trainers, boxed | 0.9 kg | 33 × 22 × 13 | 1.18 kg | Volume |
| Cycling helmet | 0.4 kg | 28 × 24 × 20 | 1.68 kg | Volume |
| Rolled yoga mat | 1.0 kg | 65 × 15 × 15 | 1.83 kg | Volume |
Light apparel is priced by weight; helmets, mats and boxed trainers are priced by their box.
Long items against the line limits
The estimator lists a size limit with every quote. For Germany on 19 October 2026, LIT-Economy-DHL-DE took 60 × 50 × 40 cm, and the JSF, JD, SF and SD DHL lines took either that size or 120 × 60 × 60 cm. HF-EMS-DE accepted 150 × 150 × 300 cm, with the recipient paying duties. JD-DPDMAX-DE-1 was listed with two numbers, 165 and 300; we could not tell which side each figure covers, and it cost €41.06 at 1 kg against €25.84 on JSF-DHL-DE-1. A yoga mat rolled to 65 cm is over the longest side of the cheapest line, which means it needs JSF or a heavier line.
| Line | Size limit (cm) | 1,000 g | 2,000 g | Days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| LIT-Economy-DHL-DE | 60 × 50 × 40 | €24.12 | €38.75 | 10–15 |
| JSF-DHL-DE-1 | 120 × 60 × 60 | €25.84 | €41.96 | 8–13 |
| JD-DHL-DE-1 | 120 × 60 × 60 | €26.14 | €42.56 | 12–17 |
| JD-DPDMAX-DE-1 | listed 165 and 300 | €41.06 | €62.26 | 10–16 |
| HF-EMS-DE | 150 × 150 × 300 | €44.05 | €61.96 | 12–25 |
Prices for other weights are on the shipping cost page. One more rule applies at the top end: LitBuy's help says parcels above 10 kg are more likely to be treated as commercial, as are many identical items. That is a classification risk to expect, not a number to engineer around.
Check the longest side of the packed row against the line, and expect JSF or DPDMAX for anything long.
Running and gym rows: sizing, fabric and the shoe video
Running tops, shorts and leggings sit in general goods, with the same 3 to 6 routine photos as other clothing, front, back and side or logo. LitBuy checks colour, size against your notes and visible damage; it does not assess fabric performance or fit. For sportswear that is the main gap, since "dry-fit" or "compression" in a listing is the seller's word. Ask for a ¥1 photo of the care label, a flat photo of the garment with a tape measure and a close-up of the seams at stress points such as the crotch and armpit. Our clothes page has the garment-level routine.
Trainers are heavier and boxier. LitBuy's interface offers a shoe video at ¥7, about €0.84, for 20 seconds, and warns against using it on non-footwear. Sports shoes also appear in LitBuy's return standard: anti-theft tags or anti-tamper stickers must not be cut or removed, or the no-reason return is lost. Those rules and sizing are covered on the shoes page. Gym rows to check include resistance bands, gloves and straps, which are light and flat, and a shaker bottle, which is bulky for its weight.
Pay ¥1 per close-up at stress points, and treat fabric claims as the seller's word.
Golf and bike gear: what is restricted and what needs a ticket
Golf gloves, polo-style tops, towels and tees are light and flat, and travel like any clothing row. Clubs, bags and travel covers are the opposite: long, bulky and often over the limit of the cheap lines. A full set belongs on a freight route, not a spreadsheet line, and heavy golf rows run into the 10 kg commercial-classification note. A rangefinder or GPS watch has a lithium cell, so it falls under the battery rules on our electronics page.
Bike gear brings a different catch. LitBuy's restricted list, in its "Notes Before Purchasing", names Swiss army knives, outdoor cutting tools, magnetic components and ice skates, and its prohibited policy covers knives and blades. A multi-tool with a blade can fall on the wrong side of that list, and a speed sensor with a magnet may be flagged as a magnetic component. Lights and bike computers carry batteries. Helmets are the common row, and a bulky one: ask support about any sprayable chain lube or sealant, since aerosols are listed as hazardous.
Where a row is on the restricted list, LitBuy says to contact support; if it is prohibited, the order can be cancelled and any costs fall to the buyer. Put every doubtful row in one ticket with the links.
Gloves and tops travel easily; blades, magnets, batteries and sprays need a written answer first.
Combining sports rows and using the 90 free storage days
Sports hauls build slowly: a jacket in autumn, shoes when a sale lands, a helmet in spring. Each item is stored free for 90 days after stocking, then a daily charge of 0.2% of the item price follows, never under ¥1. That window lets you wait until the box is worth sending. LitBuy's own illustration of combining uses three items of 700 g, 1,100 g and 1,600 g shipped separately on an express route to the US for 1,071 yuan against 645 yuan combined, a saving of 426 yuan. It is an old example with illustrative prices, not a current quote, but the logic holds on any line: first-weight charges and handling fees are paid once per parcel.
For sports gear the logic has a limit. Bulky rows push the combined box towards the next quote step, so a flat tee and a helmet may share a parcel cheaply, while a helmet, a mat and two boxes of trainers may not fit under 60 × 50 × 40 cm at all. Put the awkward row on a rehearsal parcel first, and the haul planner CSV turns assumed weights into a euro total per parcel.
Use the 90 free days to fill one box, and rehearse the box if a bulky row is in it.
Worked example: a helmet and gloves to Germany
Assume a cycling helmet at ¥219 and cycling gloves at ¥45, tucked inside the helmet, converted at ¥1 ≈ €0.12. Assume the helmet weighs 0.4 kg and the gloves 0.15 kg, a 0.55 kg total, in a 28 × 24 × 20 cm box of 13,440 cm³, or 1.68 kg by volume at 8,000. Volume decides, and the nearest LitBuy quote at or above 1.68 kg is the 2,000 g one, €38.75 on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE as quoted on 19 October 2026, with the €2 EU fee added. The box fits the 60 × 50 × 40 cm limit. All weights are assumed.
Helmet and gloves to Germany, one parcel (hypothetical)
Cycling helmet, ¥219€26.28
Cycling gloves, ¥45€5.40
DHL line, 2,000 g tier€38.75 ($43.53)
EU parcel fee€2.00
Parcel total€72.43
The goods come to €31.68 and €40.75 of freight and fee, which is 56% of the total. If the same 0.55 kg had priced by weight at the 500 g quote of €16.81, plus €2, shipping would be €18.81, and the box volume costs €21.94 more. A running kit of a ¥179 jacket, ¥79 shorts and ¥59 tee comes to €38.04, and with the 1,000 g quote of €24.12 and the €2 fee the total is €64.16. The calculator at LitBuy shipping calculator reruns these sums with your own box size, and a ¥20 rehearsal parcel (about €2.40) confirms them.
If you want a delivered price without registering, the WhatsApp QR sits on the contact page; payment is per order.
The helmet box, not the helmet, set the €72.43 total.
Questions buyers ask
How long can a golf club or bike frame be on LitBuy?
It depends on the line. On 19 October 2026 LIT-Economy-DHL-DE took 60 × 50 × 40 cm, JSF-DHL-DE-1 took 120 × 60 × 60 cm and HF-EMS-DE took 150 × 150 × 300 cm at €44.05 for 1 kg. JD-DPDMAX-DE-1 was listed as 165 and 300, but we could not tell which dimension each refers to, so check the estimator before buying.
Does LitBuy treat gym kit like normal clothing?
Mostly yes. Running tops, shorts and leggings are general goods with no special rule in the texts we read, and routine inspection takes 3 to 6 photos for colour, size and visible damage. A ¥179 jacket, ¥79 shorts and ¥59 tee come to about €38.04. Sizing is the risk, so ask for a ¥1 photo with a tape measure.
Why does a cycling helmet cost so much to ship?
Volume. A helmet box of 28 × 24 × 20 cm is 13,440 cm³, which is 1.68 kg by volume at the usual 8,000 divisor, even if the helmet weighs 0.4 kg. On 19 October 2026 the 500 g quote to Germany was €16.81 and the 2,000 g quote €38.75, so volume added €21.94. A rehearsal parcel at ¥20 shows the real figure.
Are bike tools or multi-tools allowed through LitBuy?
Often not. LitBuy's restricted list names Swiss army knives, outdoor cutting tools, magnetic components and ice skates, and its prohibited policy covers knives and blades. A multi-tool with a blade is a risk, and a bike computer with a magnet sensor may be flagged. Ask support in writing before buying, and expect a refusal rather than a quiet reroute.
Can I ship a gym machine or heavy weights from LitBuy?
Unlikely to be sensible. LitBuy's help says parcels above 10 kg are more likely to be treated as commercial, and heavy items run into line size and weight limits. At 2,000 g the Germany quote was already €38.75 on 19 October 2026. Dumbbells weigh far more, so a local purchase is usually cheaper. Light resistance bands and gloves are the sensible rows.
Is a golf rangefinder or running watch a normal row?
No, it is an electronics row. LitBuy's inspection only checks that electronics appear intact and the accessories are present, and its disclaimer says batteries may be removed from sensitive items. A rangefinder or GPS watch has a lithium cell, so ask support about the line first. The only line we saw named for electronics, LIT-Electronic-DHL-FR, quoted €37.28 at 1 kg to France.
