The break-even price: where shipping overtakes the item
A "cheap" row on a spreadsheet is a price, and the price is only half of the bill. On 19 October 2026 LitBuy's estimator quoted €16.81 ($18.89) for 500 g to Germany on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE (Tax free, 10–15 working days stated). LitBuy's 18 October notice adds a €2 EU handling fee to parcels submitted after 25 October 2026 (14:00 Beijing time), so a lone 500 g parcel becomes €18.81. Converted at ¥1 ≈ €0.12, that equals about ¥157. Any single item cheaper than that costs more to deliver than to buy.
Do not add the €3 flat EU prepayment on top: it is the ¥24 line already inside the quote. The table shows how the ratio looks for assumed item prices, each travelling alone under 500 g.
| Item price | About in euros | Shipping ÷ item price | Shipping share of total |
|---|---|---|---|
| ¥19 | €2.28 | 8.25× | 89.2% |
| ¥39 | €4.68 | 4.02× | 80.1% |
| ¥69 | €8.28 | 2.27× | 69.4% |
| ¥99 | €11.88 | 1.58× | 61.3% |
| ¥149 | €17.88 | 1.05× | 51.3% |
| ¥199 | €23.88 | 0.79× | 44.1% |
The lesson is not "avoid cheap rows"; it is "never ship one". The parcel, not the row, is the unit you pay for, which is why our LitBuy shipping cost page lists quotes by weight rather than by item.
Below about ¥157 a row cannot pay for its own parcel, so it must share one.
500 g quotes in four countries, and what the second 500 g costs
The useful number for budget buyers is not the first 500 g but the next one. Quotes jump with weight, and the step between bands is much smaller than the entry price. The table gives the cheapest list quote per country on 19 October 2026, with the step between the quoted weights worked out from them. A "step" here is our arithmetic between two LitBuy quotes, not a LitBuy price.
| Destination and line | 500 g | 1,000 g | 2,000 g | Step per extra 500 g (1 to 2 kg) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Germany, LIT-Economy-DHL-DE | €16.81 ($18.89) | €24.12 ($27.10) | €38.75 ($43.53) | about €7.32 |
| France, LIT-Quickly-GOFO-FR | €16.44 ($18.47) | €23.75 ($26.68) | €38.38 ($43.12) | about €7.32 |
| United States, FF-GOFO-US-2 | $23.16 | $37.41 | $65.92 | about $14.26 |
| United Kingdom, FF-Royalmail-GB-1 | £11.08 ($14.77) | £16.87 ($22.49) | £28.44 ($37.91) | about £5.79 |
In Germany the first 500 g costs €16.81 and each further 500 g up to 2 kg adds about €7.32, less than half. Part of that gap is fixed per-parcel cost: in the estimator's breakdown the 1 kg quote is a weight fee plus a fuel surcharge, an operation fee of ¥10.53 to ¥12.65 per parcel (about €1.26 to €1.52) and, on EU lines, the ¥24 prepayment. Only the weight and fuel parts grow with the load. A buyer in the US pays the largest steps, in France the pattern matches Germany.
Prices change with carriers, so the quote date matters. Use the LitBuy shipping calculator for weights between the quoted ones.
The first 500 g is the expensive one; the second and third are the bargain.
Worked example: five budget rows in one parcel against five parcels
Prices and weights below are assumptions for this example. Five rows cost ¥19, ¥29, ¥35, ¥49 and ¥59, totalling ¥191, about €22.92 at ¥1 ≈ €0.12, and weigh an assumed 0.1, 0.15, 0.2, 0.25 and 0.3 kg, 1.0 kg in all. We assume the pack is compact enough that actual weight sets the price, so the 1,000 g quote applies.
A. One parcel to Germany
Items, ¥191about €22.92
Parcel, 1,000 g quote (LIT-Economy-DHL-DE)€24.12
Flat €2 EU fee per parcel (from 25 Oct)€2.00
Total (about €9.81 per row)about €49.04
B. Five separate parcels to Germany (500 g quote each)
Items, ¥191about €22.92
Five parcels at €16.81 + €2.00 fee€94.05
Total (about €23.39 per row)about €116.97
Combining saves about €67.93 on the same goods. Another way to read the same data is the extra cost of adding a row to a parcel that is already in the 1 to 2 kg band: its price plus its weight times the step, about €14.63 per kilo between the 1 kg and 2 kg quotes.
| Item | Item price | Assumed weight | Extra shipping | Row delivered |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ¥19 | €2.28 | 0.10 kg | €1.46 | €3.74 |
| ¥29 | €3.48 | 0.15 kg | €2.19 | €5.67 |
| ¥35 | €4.20 | 0.20 kg | €2.93 | €7.13 |
| ¥49 | €5.88 | 0.25 kg | €3.66 | €9.54 |
| ¥59 | €7.08 | 0.30 kg | €4.39 | €11.47 |
The extra shipping is interpolated between two quotes, so it is an estimate. It shows why light rows suit a budget haul best: a ¥19 item adds only €1.46 of shipping once the parcel exists. Start with one heavier row you actually want, then fill the gaps. Our haul planner CSV does the same arithmetic in a file you can edit.
Five rows in one parcel cost less than half as much per row as five parcels.
Finding rows at $15 or less: using the photo grid
The grid above is filtered to products priced at $15 or less. At the $1 = €0.89 rate our cards use, $15 is about €13.35, roughly ¥111. Each card shows an estimated landed price for Germany if the item shipped alone at 1 kg: the dollar price converted plus LitBuy's €24.12 quote. For a $15 item that is about €37.47 or more before the €2 EU fee, and that is exactly the trap: nearly two thirds of it is postage.
Read the card as the worst case, then ask what it would cost inside a full parcel. Pick the rows that are light, have a clear size chart, and are not fragile. Photos on the grid come from repbuysheet.com's public feed, not from a LitBuy order, so run the item through LitBuy's own product page before you plan around its price. Our LitBuy spreadsheets guide has the dead-link test. Items that failed it show the Chinese text 商品已下架.
Treat a card's landed price as the lone-parcel worst case, then drop the row into a full parcel.
Günstig, billig: the small fees that decide a budget order
German searches for "günstig" and "billig" spreadsheets are looking for the lowest total, and on a budget order the small fixed items matter. LitBuy's help says it charges no service fee beyond item cost, international shipping and customs charges, but several per-parcel and per-service amounts exist, listed below with assumed ¥1 ≈ €0.12.
| Cost | Amount | About in euros | When it matters |
|---|---|---|---|
| Operation fee (inside the quote) | ¥10.53–¥12.65 per parcel | €1.26–€1.52 | Every parcel, so combine |
| EU flat customs prepayment (inside the quote) | ¥24 (€3) | €3.00 | Every EU parcel |
| EU handling fee | €2 per parcel after 25 Oct 2026 | €2.00 | Every EU parcel |
| Extra QC photo | ¥1 each | €0.12 | Worth it on any row |
| Rehearsal parcel | ¥20 | €2.40 | Only for bulky or uncertain parcels |
| Storage after 90 days | 0.2% of price paid per day, minimum ¥1 | €0.12 or more per item per day | Cheap items hit the minimum quickly |
The storage minimum bites cheap rows hardest. A ¥29 item that sits for a month past day 90 would accrue at least ¥30, more than its price, because the ¥1 daily minimum applies to every item. LitBuy caps overdue fees at ¥300 per item per month, which is no comfort on a ¥29 row. Buy what you will ship within the 90 free days, and pay per order rather than leaving money with the agent. The LitBuy fees page lists every line item.
On a budget haul the ¥1 daily storage minimum and the per-parcel fees do more damage than the item prices.
Coupons on a small haul: how far the 40% banner goes
The estimator on 19 October 2026 carried a banner for a 40% new-user shipping coupon and a 25% coupon for joining Discord. LitBuy's own figures show the discount does not take 40% off the parcel. At 500 g to Germany the list quote was €16.81 and the figure shown with the promotion €13.91, a 17.3% cut of €2.90. At 1 kg it was €24.12 against €18.29, a 24.2% cut of €5.83. The pattern fits a discount on the weight-fee part only, which LitBuy does not document, so we write "appears to". One reviewer on Trustpilot in September 2026 reported support saying fuel, handling and service fees are excluded.
Rules that matter for small orders: coupons are bound to one account, one shipping coupon applies per parcel, and shipping coupons and shipping discounts cannot be combined. Threshold coupons require a minimum spend, which a budget haul may not reach. We never print codes; see LitBuy's site announcements, Discord and Reddit for current ones. Without an account, the WhatsApp QR on our contact page gives one delivered price, photos before dispatch, paid per order.
A coupon trims a budget parcel by a few euros; filling the parcel saves far more.
Questions buyers ask
At what item price does LitBuy shipping cost more than the item?
For a single item in a 500 g parcel to Germany, about ¥157. LitBuy's estimator quoted €16.81 on 19 October 2026, and the €2 EU fee for parcels submitted after 25 October makes €18.81. Divide by ¥1 ≈ €0.12 and you get roughly ¥157. Below that price, shipping alone exceeds the item; combining rows is the only fix.
Is it worth sending a 500 g parcel to Germany?
Only if the items justify about €18.81 in shipping and fees. The first 500 g costs €16.81 and the next 500 g adds just €7.31 to reach the 1 kg quote of €24.12, so a half-full parcel wastes money. Add rows up to 1 kg when you can, but do not stuff the box with things you do not want.
How many cheap rows should I combine in one LitBuy parcel?
Enough to reach the top of a weight band. In our example five rows at an assumed 1.0 kg total used the €24.12 quote and cost €49.04 delivered, about €9.81 each. Sent alone, each would carry about €18.81 of shipping and fees. Past 1 kg, the 2 kg quote of €38.75 is the next ceiling to aim for.
Does the 40% new-user coupon make a cheap haul cheap?
Less than the banner suggests. LitBuy's estimator showed €13.91 instead of €16.81 at 500 g, a 17.3% cut, and €18.29 instead of €24.12 at 1 kg, 24.2%. The discount appears to apply to part of the fee, and a Trustpilot reviewer reported fuel, handling and service fees are excluded. Treat it as a small saving, not a rescue.
Is the ¥20 rehearsal parcel worth it on a budget order?
Rarely. A rehearsal costs a fixed ¥20, about €2.40, before shipping, so on a ¥29 row (about €3.48) it would cost more than two thirds of the item. It makes sense for bulky or uncertain parcels where a €7 to €15 weight band is at stake. For small, predictable rows, use your own weight estimates and leave a margin.
Which LitBuy line was cheapest at 500 g in each country?
On 19 October 2026 the estimator's cheapest list quotes at 500 g were €16.81 on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE to Germany, €16.44 on LIT-Quickly-GOFO-FR to France, $23.16 on FF-GOFO-US-2 to the US and £11.08 on FF-Royalmail-GB-1 to the UK. All are Tax free lines. Prices change with carriers, so check the quote date before you plan around them.
