Lamps, vases and seasonal decor on a LitBuy sheet: fragile rules, box limits and the weight a box really bills

Checked and updated .

Short answer: Room decor on a LitBuy spreadsheet is cheap to buy and awkward to ship: LitBuy guarantees integrity before shipment, but losses on fragile items the carrier judges fragile are the buyer's. In our example, three ¥18.61 decorations and a lamp cost €62.93 delivered to Germany, because a 30 × 25 × 20 cm box bills 1.875 kg by volume and moves the parcel to the €38.75 quote.

These product photos come from repbuysheet.com, which has 10,000+ products to choose from. Each card adds LitBuy's 19 October 1 kg list price for its cheapest tax-free line to Germany (€24.12) to the item price, so you see a rough landed figure before you open the link. A new selection appears every month.

Glass and ceramics: who carries the loss

LitBuy's rule is blunt and appears in two places. In the Purchasing Agency Disclaimer, "ceramics, glassware, and irregularly shaped items" may suffer "wear and breakage" in transit, and buyers are told to purchase with caution. LitBuy says it guarantees the integrity of the item before shipment, but if the item is damaged in transit and the logistics company classifies it as fragile, the loss is the buyer's. A help article titled "What if fragile products arrived damaged?" repeats it, in nearly the same words.

The claims side is stricter still. LitBuy's Receipt Notes say that a fragile or delicate item, reinforced packaging or not, qualifies only for a loss claim and never for a damage claim. In practice a parcel that never arrives can be claimed, and a vase that arrives in pieces cannot. Optional Loss/Damage Protection shown with estimator quotes promises a full refund of item value and shipping for confirmed loss and a $6 coupon for minor damage, but we could not see its premium without an account, and the cap is ¥5,000 per claim. Our accessories page covers the lighter packing issues.

Box limits per line: where a lamp or frame stops fitting

Every LitBuy line has a maximum box, and decor tends to find it. The estimator lists the limit with each quote. Germany's cheapest tax-free line, LIT-Economy-DHL-DE, accepts 60 × 50 × 40 cm. JSF-DHL-DE-1 takes 120 × 60 × 60 cm for €25.84 at 1 kg on 19 October 2026, while XB-DHL-DE-1 is tighter at 45 × 45 × 35 cm. Germany's EMS line takes 150 × 150 × 300 cm, though its tax label says the recipient pays duties. For JD-DPDMAX-DE-1 the estimator gives just two figures, 165 and 300, without naming the sides, so read that limit on the estimator itself.

The JSF box allows 3.6 times the volume of the Economy box. Frames and floor lamps can approach the top of those ranges. The shipping cost page shows quotes for the other lines.

Measure the packed box, not the item, before you pick a line.

Volumetric weight: why a 0.7 kg lamp bills as 1.4 kg

On most LitBuy tax-free lines the parcel is billed on whichever is higher, scale weight or volume: multiply the three sides in centimetres and divide by 8,000. EMS, ETK and EUB lines divide by 6,000 and ZD-HKUPS-US-1 by 5,000. A lamp is the textbook case: a 28 × 20 × 20 cm box holds 11,200 cm³, which is 1.4 kg volumetric, double the assumed 0.7 kg on the scale. A 40 × 30 × 30 cm box would be 4.5 kg. LitBuy prepays on the estimated weight and recalculates after packing, refunding any difference above one billing step to your LitBuy account within 72 hours after shipment, so volume surprises show up late.

The practical move is a rehearsal parcel. LitBuy packs your items in advance for a fixed ¥20 (about €2.40), usually within 24 hours, and shows actual weight and size before you pay shipping. For a bulky lamp or a set of frames that is cheap insurance against paying for air. The rehearsal parcel page has the rules, and the shipping calculator lets you enter the box size.

Pay for the packed box, which is why you measure it first.

A real row: the Taobao Halloween decoration we loaded

On 19 October 2026 we loaded a Taobao Halloween decoration through LitBuy's link format, litbuy.com/product/1/972753749417, with the platform code after "product" (1 here, which means Taobao). The page loaded showing CNY 18.61 (about USD 3.29) with stock available, a seller shipment estimate of 21 October and a warehouse arrival estimate of 26 October. At ¥1 ≈ €0.12 the item is about €2.23. Our link converter rebuilds this format from a Taobao URL.

A Weidian test on the same day loaded the page frame but showed the item as delisted, which is what a dead row looks like. Seasonal rows move fast, and LitBuy's own timing note shows why: from seller shipment to warehouse arrival is five days on this row, and LitBuy's help puts typical domestic shipping at 3 to 5 days. For a decoration you need before a date, add the 10 to 15 days quoted for LIT-Economy-DHL-DE and the days spent packing. LitBuy's shipping policy says processing takes 1 to 3 business days after you submit a parcel.

A ¥18.61 row is only worth buying if shipping is shared with other rows.

Lamps, candles and diffusers: the sensitive-goods filter

Decor is not only ceramics. LitBuy's disclaimer lists essential oils, care solutions, glue and batteries as sensitive items that will be removed, and its prohibited policy names flammables and aerosols as hazardous. Scented candles, reed diffusers and oil burners therefore sit close to the liquid and sensitive rules covered on our perfume page. A battery fairy-light string meets the battery rule on the electronics page, and a mains lamp with the wrong plug is a usable lamp only with an adapter.

The inspection will check that the lamp appears intact and its accessories are included; it will not switch it on. LitBuy says fragile items may keep the original box instead of being repacked in a self-sealing bag, depending on actual operation, so ask in a ticket for the retail box to stay on any lamp. The Packing & Reinforcement service is shown at about ¥10 per item plus materials, with materials advertised as free for a limited time.

Ask for the retail box on every lamp, and for a ticket answer on every candle or battery string.

Worked example: three decorations and a lamp to Germany

Assume three Halloween decorations at ¥18.61 each and a table lamp at ¥129, converted at ¥1 ≈ €0.12. Assume the decorations weigh 0.15 kg each and the lamp 0.7 kg, a 1.15 kg total. The shipping box measures 30 × 25 × 20 cm, which is 15,000 cm³ and 1.875 kg by volume at 8,000, so volume decides. LitBuy quoted weights of 500 g, 1,000 g and 2,000 g, and the nearest quote at or above 1.875 kg is the 2,000 g one: €38.75 on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE, quoted on 19 October 2026, and the €2 EU fee comes on top. The box is inside the 60 × 50 × 40 cm limit. All weights and the lamp price are assumed.

Three decorations and a lamp to Germany (hypothetical)

Three decorations, ¥55.83€6.70

Table lamp, ¥129€15.48

Freight, 2,000 g tier€38.75 ($43.53)

€2 fee, EU parcels€2.00

Door-to-door total€62.93

The goods come to €22.18 and freight with fee of €40.75, which is 65% of the total. Had the same 1.15 kg been packed so that actual weight decided, the 1,000 g quote of €24.12 would have applied, giving €48.30; the bulky box costs €14.63 more. A single decoration shipped alone at the 500 g quote is €18.81 of freight on a €2.23 item, 8.4 times its price. Anyone who would rather not register can find the WhatsApp QR on the contact page; payment stays per order.

Volume, not weight, turned a €48.30 parcel into €62.93.

Questions buyers ask

Who pays if a vase breaks on the way from LitBuy?

Usually the buyer. LitBuy's help says it guarantees the item's integrity before shipment, but if the carrier judges the item fragile and it is damaged in transit, the loss is the user's. Its Receipt Notes add that fragile items are eligible only for loss claims, not damage claims. Optional Loss/Damage Protection exists, but its premium is not shown in the public estimator.

What is the biggest parcel LitBuy allows to Germany?

It depends on the line. On 19 October 2026 LIT-Economy-DHL-DE allowed 60 × 50 × 40 cm, JSF-DHL-DE-1 allowed 120 × 60 × 60 cm and XB-DHL-DE-1 only 45 × 45 × 35 cm. HF-EMS-DE allowed 150 × 150 × 300 cm, at €44.05 for 1 kg. A floor lamp or large frame needs the bigger lines, so check the limit before adding the row.

Why does my light lamp bill like a heavy one?

Because most tax-free lines bill the greater of actual and volumetric weight, with length × width × height in centimetres divided by 8,000. A 28 × 20 × 20 cm lamp box is 11,200 cm³, which is 1.4 kg by volume even if it weighs 0.7 kg. EMS and EUB lines divide by 6,000, which bills the same box higher.

Can I ship a lamp with a plug or battery through LitBuy?

Possibly, but ask first. LitBuy's disclaimer says batteries are removed from sensitive items and items with electrical components may meet customs restrictions. Its inspection only checks that a lamp looks intact and the accessories are present, not that it lights. For a battery lamp, ask support which line applies and check the plug type for Germany or France.

Is Halloween or seasonal decor worth importing from Taobao?

Only in bulk. LitBuy's page for a Taobao Halloween decoration, loaded on 19 October 2026, showed CNY 18.61, about €2.23 at ¥1 ≈ €0.12. The 500 g quote to Germany was €16.81 plus the €2 fee, so shipping that one item alone costs about 8.4 times its price. Buy several light rows together instead.

How do I check a decor row is still available on LitBuy?

Paste the Taobao, Weidian or 1688 link into LitBuy's search, or build the product URL from the item code. We loaded a Taobao item on 19 October 2026 and it showed a price, stock and an estimated seller shipment date. A Weidian test showed the page frame but the item was delisted. Treat a blank or delisted page as a dead row and skip it.
